Our Talent Toolbox series focuses on different topics and includes interactive elements to help you grow your business on Upwork.
About this event
Are you looking to expand your network and connect with fellow independent professionals on Upwork? Want to connect with local freelancers and grow your knowledge in your field?
We invite you to join us on February 13th at 9:00 AM PT for a chat with Upwork Event Manager, Will Simpson, and Upwork Senior Manager of Community Experience, Bethany Joy Clark who runs our groups program. During this virtual event, you'll hear from group guides around the world and learn about:
As Sr. Manager of Community Experience for the world’s work marketplace, Bethany Joy Clark plays a key role in the world of Community Groups & Gamification at Upwork --- and what a growing world it is.
The Upwork Community Groups program now has 100+ groups across 50+ countries. The focus is on connecting like-minded professionals spanning various industries, identities, interests, and geographical locations. Championing global cultures and serving a diverse workforce, a unique element of the program is the ability for groups to communicate in their native languages.
Before Upwork, Bethany was a Community Director for two years at WeWork, managing locations and teams throughout L.A’s Westside. One of her most memorable professional experiences was as an early employee at TOMS Shoes, where she led the growth of TOMS Campus Clubs and Community for 6 years through the brand's first acquisition. Her roles progressed from Director of Community to Global Brand Ambassador when she was asked to launch and scale TOMS on the Home Shopping Network. Quickly learning live TV, Bethany was also the on-air host for the brand, selling TOMS products and sharing inspirational stories. The One for One® company now gives to people in need in 70+ countries, and sells its products all over the world.
Prior to joining TOMS, she spent 7 years at The Walt Disney Company in the Global Sales & Marketing division, heading up the Disneyland Grad Nite program. Originally from Fredericksburg, VA and a large military family, she completed her undergraduate degree at James Madison University. With equal time in her career at both premier corporations and start-up’s alike, she’s comfortable wearing all the hats (both figuratively and literally, she loves hats!). She and her family enjoy the west coast lifestyle and reside in Southern California.
